New to ACW

Postby Wee Haggis » Sun Jul 04, 2010 9:59 pm

Hello,

I have been thinking of putting together a 6mm ACW army, as i have been watching alot of it on the box, and like the idea of painting small models. But i have no idea where to start,
what are the best models to buy,
is there a book i can get so i know how much of each type i should be buying,
also how are the models based.

Any help would be great, and once i have got something together, maybe use them i a game.

Cheers for taking the time to read this

Take it easy

Mark has the very large ACW armys in the club, 15mm scale
We have been using Rank and file for ACW
if you are going for 6mm then, rules will depend on how you want to play?

The best and easy to paint
10mm there are loads of suppliers.

Thanks,

Scale was not set, i liked the size of the stuff Mark uses, and i thought it was 6mm for some reasons, but cheers for letting me know its 15mm, i will have a look at the links you showed.

Cheers

You may have seen Mark Playing with Riki's 6mm. Riki has a huge collection of Adler in 6mm, worth checking which ones were being used when you saw them.
Any body know where I left my plan? I'm sure I had one!

Yea cheers,

I have spoken to mark and he has put me on the right track.

I have picked up a set of the Guns at Gettysburg rules, should be here in the next few days, i am gonna have a read through them, and maybe pick up some models to paint.

If i was going to paint a Union Army up, which Blue would be best to use from the Games Workshop range??

Thanks for the help

Cheers,

I have picked up a few models from Essex Mini's they look really nice, will try and paint some this weekend.

I have done a little research and found the 79th New York Union Infantry Army, so i am gonna see if i can base the army around them.

Thank you for the link and the colour tips.

Regards
