Hi chaps, for anyone who is interested, the 25/28mm figs we were using last night were from battlefield evolution - they may not be the highest quality in the world, but they are incredibly cheap, come pre-based and fully painted (with free boogly eyes) and certainly not the worst in the world either. There is a limited range of vehicles they provide also which are again pre-painted and cheaper than most 28mm moderns I can find.
They also turn up on ebay a lot at ridiculously low prices usually
