Albanich is on the way

Postby Hastings » Sat Dec 19, 2009 5:25 pm

No sooner will the turkey be finished and the hangovers cured than it will be time for Albanich at Dumfries on 23rd Jan 2010. This year I think we are the first show of the year! We have a good number of traders in attendance- eager to part you from your Christmas money, a very civilized Gentlemens ( in the way it is played, not to rule out any Female tabletop warriors who wish to participate) WAB competition and a good selection of participation and demo games.
The show will also see the launch of the third Very British Civil War book and to celebrate this Solway will be sponsoring a 1938 catagory in the painting competition
The event this year is in the equally civilized Cairndale hotel just over the road from the sports centre venue we had last time. The hotel is providing a well stocked bar and snacks- so escape the trauma of the sales and the post christmas blues and pop down to Dumfries and join us on the 23rd
More details at http://solwaycraftsandminiatures.webs.com/albanich2010.htm
If you can pass the word around the other forums sites etc that would be a big help
Have a good christmas one and all

Well the show is only a week away now chaps so I draw your attention to the website http://solwaycraftsandminiatures.webs.com/ as there will be updates over the next few days.
Basicaly its all going to plan at the mo, if anybody is wanting to come down on the Friday night you will be able to set up on then as well as enjoy a pint with your hosts!

There are several trophies up for grabs including Best of show game, painting competition winners, and the Albanich WAB challenge trophy. Solway will be sponsoring a 1938 catagory in the painting competition

Solway will also be carrying at the show the three 1938 books and possibly a new release as well.
Figurewise ive got metal stock of Copplestone, Artizan, Great War and im showcasing the highly excellent Aventine Miniatures ancients.
Ive also got loads of flags including some bumper sets for the Thirty Years War and all the 1938 range. Ive also got a stock of the Teamsters 1/56th scale trains and a range of Lledo vehicles

Also in attendance are
Warlord, Rif Raf, Mutineer, Iron Clad, Central, Forge, WarBases, Rumbling Guns, UTB, Northumbria, and Gateshead

We are hoping this will now be a regular post Christmas fixture and be a very relaxed and social occassion
Cheers

Going to try and get down to the show. The last one was enjoyable. I'll need to see if 'er indoors' will let me escape and get out to play for the day.
What do you mean, all my figures are just undercoated? I just like white paint schemes.

Gentlemen all.
Thank you for supporting our show yesterday. Much appreciated. It did feel very much like starting again having had an 18month break and in a new venue. But the feeling is very much now this is going to be our slot and we will be looking at ways to grow the show over the coming years Although we didn't have a large attendance most of the traders are reporting they did ok,and ive already heard from several that they intend to join us again next year.
So as always any advice for future development very welcome
Cheers

Sadly this great venue and potentially good show was not supported by the wargamers themselves and it is hard to say why maybe to close to the christmas spending spree, I'll be back next year It was great for my diet what better way than just have no food. The only major problem was the big polish Blonde from the liesure centre, I tripped over my tongue two or three times :D
