    There are no instructions on the yahoo group for my ships. the one for kasuga is but I have been supplied with the wrong flying bridge forward.and lots of guns that don't appear in the instruction look like little 2lb type things

what is the point of selling a product like this and providing no support tossers   it's better to get this right so a bit more research is required.

Why do you need instructions ?

that is why we Naval wargamers tend to be more intelligent than the average napoleonic brain cell.

Anyway, what the make of that paint I asked about last night again ?

parts sorted replacement ship to be sent on return, I have worked out the build plans from 1/350 scale models on the internet I think there are a few extra bits but no problem they can keep in case some bits break and get lost.

Are we going to do a weathered rusty look or are we going tiddly just painted look with the ships, I like a bit of rust It is more realistic

Well, I've been giving it a bit of thought, and it will depend if I get that paint (or similar) that gives a nice result, then they are in their war paint, and a bit of rust will do nicely - if I do the pre-war white/black scheme then I assume that they would have time to worry about things like sorting the rust etc ?

Well chaps I’ve been delving into my extensive collection of naval literature (two and a half books) I quite like the idea of naval gamming in this scale and having seen Garry’s ships on Monday I may well be tempted (in a small way  ), the Sino-Japanese War: 1894-5 had several engagements in the yellow sea, and who’s to say that Chinese naval vessels wouldn’t have a go at a straggling Japanese ship a few years later given the chance and some spare concrete filled shells  , (Chinese naval logistics was in a class all by itself). I have found a website with lots of colour pictures of a newly built replica of a Chinese pre-dreadnought, Old Glory have an extensive list of ONE Chinese ship IC800 Chin Yuen so what the hell, there is also IC401 Chin Yen Japanese navy but ex- Chinese vessel?, if anyone can tell me if Chin Yen is a Japanese or Chinese name for the ship I would be interested :?:

Coast defence armoured ship Chen Yuen launched 1882 by Vulkan at Stettin 7430 tons
308'5" x 59' x 20' 14.5 knots
4 x 305mm/12" and 2 x 150mm/6" guns
Became Japanese Chin Yen and was rebuilt 1896/7
Served throughout the Russo-Japanese War as a second-line battleship
Scrapped 1914

Bit light in the secondary guns though.

when you google Chin yen loads of chinese restraunts and a few chinese people and a manufacturing company in China, so i would make an assumption it's chinese not japanese, but not a exact science.

looks like Gary has nailed it Chin Yen is jap translation from Chen Yuen

whoops nearly forgot, I have two sets of rules had them for some tyme, but have never used them they are both from NAVWAR published 1990/1:
Naval Wargame Rules for the Ironclad era1860-1880 by J W Wallis.
Steam and Steel - quick play rules for naval wargames 1880-1906 by R A Walker.
If you want to have a look at them I will bring them down to the club on monday.

Well things are starting to look up for the Qing Dynasty Beiyang Fleet, the Japanese not only took the ‘Chin Yen’ into there fleet but also a slack handful of cruisers, also bearing in mind that the shipyards of Europe where the main suppliers of naval hardware, the Japanese cruiser ‘Tsukushi’ was also built for China as the ‘Yangwei’.
Also the Japanese Matsushima class cruisers resembled a Chinese cruiser.
So question time:
1. Are the Japanese ships Tsukushi and Matsushima represented in Oldglorys list of ships?
2. Torpedo boats, did both sides use the small black boats that look like a small surfaced sub and if so would they be IC413 or IC414 (the Japs captured at least one Chinese torpedo boat. Re-named TB28).
3. In the Oldglory list what type of ship is an ODD?

Of course all this information is totally irrelevant as I am only going to get one ship  :? (ordered yesterday)????

Have you found a great set of rules ?
