another newb question about basing

Postby weebaldy » Sat Feb 16, 2008 7:09 pm

Having gotten around to basing my 10mm Pendraken soviet army ( with a LOT of help and advice from you guys ) I have a question about the material you prefer to use.

I have glued the Figs ditectly onto my MDF bases and then covered them in PVA and based them with a sand compound. This looks OK but I get the feeling that blending MDF base up to the figs with some sort of filller would make neater and more interesting bases.

I have seeen this done on some websites but thought I would get advice from the experts so do you guys use scenic material direct on your bases or do you use some form of filler first to give them texture and if so what do you use.

Thanks again

I used GW sand on peter hull russian figures
I then painted the bases earth brown
and then dry brushed them bleach bone.
peter had some flock which i used in small bits on the base and it looked great.
some people use dead wood on there bases.
some rocks painted black and then dry brushed light gray
Hope this helps

Thanks CB but next week is my London away week :( , I see the club has Sunday coming up on the 24th which I will be at and also Monday night the 25th. If you are at the club either of those night it would be great to see how you base things up.

Thanks for the help
