hi the daves

as guru's of of ancients is it possible to have figures based for FOG and crusader any advice would be appreciated.

What scale
FOG 10 - 15mm are 40mm wide bases eg Warmaster / DBM size
FOG 25mm are 60mm wide bases eg old 6th WRG
most people play with 6th bases for Crusader so it does not seem to be a problem
Crusader is 40mm by 40mm but I don't think anybody is going to rebase there figures

Base sizes for Crusader rules should not matter as the number of figures fighting is a function of the number of elements in the front of the unit, not the actual frontage. They recommend sizes similar to WAB for convienence but the rules state that base sizing is not of paramount importance.

As long as the troops on both sides are 'similar' in size ie the amount of room they take up on the battle field, then base sizing shouln't be a problem.

Two basing conventions domiate

WRG - which covers the older rules such as WRG 6th and 7th as well as DBM, DBMM and FOG - 95% of bases are common throughout these rules

GW - obviously including WAB - Crusader is largely based on these.

With the exception of figures bought by a number of people to play the WAB El Cid supplement most figures in the club are based to WRG.

The major issue with WRG is that it can be difficult to fit large 28mm figures onto the bases, although it is possible to make the bases a little deeper without adversely affecting game play.

However as Rory says it matters very little which bases you use for which rules if the basing conventions are the same and with a sensible approach it is also not a problem to use WRG based figures and GW based figures in the same game
